Intake/Evaluations:
Our first session will involve a combination of paperwork, answering any questions you may have about the therapy process and an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and a treatment plan to follow, if you decide to continue therapy. It may also include some recommendations for additional services you can seek, such as further psychological or substance use assessment, a medical evaluation, or community support available, if needed. Psychotherapy calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be the most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home. You will decide what next steps you are willing to take in order to address the specific issues you brought forward.
Therapy Services:
Individual, couples, and family therapy services are sometimes the next step after evaluation. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration and loneliness. On the other hand, therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems and significant reductions in feelings of distress. As you develop more insight about your struggles, you often can develop a better way of managing them and specific ideas of how to change your course to create a better future. It is important to remember that your participation in therapy is voluntary, and you have the right to join in all decisions regarding your course of treatment. I welcome your feedback, concerns and inquiries.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Services:
Some employers offer EAP as part of their overall benefits package. EAP does not require you to go through your insurance and allows you to seek time-limited, non-medical counseling services. I am an affiliate provider with multiple Employee Assistant Programs. If you are unsure if I am in the panel of your specific EAP company, please contact me or your EAP company to verify.
School Community Intervention Program (SCIP):
I am a SCIP contracted provider for all participating Nebraska Schools. These referrals must originate from your school due to specific needs presented by your child in the school setting. I provide 1 free evaluation for anyone referred through this process, complete a report that includes recommendations for the school, and can offer referrals or ongoing services depending on the treatment recommendations.
