What are your office hours?
My office hours are currently Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. I am able to start the first session each morning earlier at your request, if that helps with managing your appiontment around your work or school schedule. I am not in the office on Wednesdays.
How long are appointments?
Most of the time an appointment lasts approximately 45-50 minutes. Sometimes the intake process takes closer to the full hour, or you may be asked to return if all of the information cannot be gathered at the first session. In most cases, the entire intake will be completed at your first session.
What types of insurance do you take?
I am contractd with a large number of insurance companies. This includes BCBS, Federal BCBS, United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Medica, Midlands Choice, and Tricare. I am also a Medicaid provider and will take all forms of Nebraska Medicaid. I cannot take Medicare.
What EAP companies do you contract with?
I contract with EAP companies too numerous to list. If you have a question about whether I am an affiliate provider with your specific EAP company, please contact me or your EAP company to inquire.
What should I bring to my first session?
Please bring your driver’s license, insurance card and a list of your medications to your first session.
What methods of payment do you take?
I accept cash, checks, debit/credit card and HSA payments. If you are interested in paying electronically, you will be asked to provide your email address, and I can send you a link to complete your payment each month. I can develop a payment plan with you if you need to spread your payments out due to finances. I do not have a sliding fee scale. I do have a cash payment rate for those who do not have insurance or do not wish to have their sessions filed through insurance.
Do you provide Telehealth services?
I do have the ability to do telehealth sessions. However, I do require that your first session is in-person and then we can discuss the possibility of telehealth for ongoing contact. I do not automatically offer telehealth, so it is based on specific need on a case-by-case basis where I will consider your specific circumstances. If I do agree to do telehealth sessions, it will also depend on your individual insurance company regarding if they are willing to cover this service. There are some limitations to this type of service that we will cover when evaluating the appropriateness.
What are some of your areas of specialty?
As a rural provider, I work with people that have a large variety of concerns. Some specific concerns that I have the most knowledge about include depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment issues, parenting concerns, and relationship problems. I can let you know at the first session, or sometimes even at a consultation phone contact, whether or not I believe I can help you with your presenting problems. If I believe you need more expertise in a specific area, I will help get you to a more specialized provider to meet your needs.
Do you provide child custody evaluations and court testimony?
I do not offer this service as part of what I can help you with. While I can assist parents and children through many issues that arise due to divorce or co-parenting from different households, I am not a trained custody evaluator. If you are looking for an “expert witness” for court, I am happy to refer you to someone with more specific training in evaluating this.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you need to cancel or change an appointment, I ask for at least a 24-hour notice. It is understood that illness, weather, and family emergencies can arise that result in less than a 24-hour notice, but these situations should be rare. I often have a list of clients wanting to move their appointment time up if a cancellation occurs. Advance notice gives me the opportunity to offer your appointment time to someone else in need of that hour.
